Police responded to reports of a possibly armed man acting aggressively to others at the MGM Casino around 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni reports.
Upon arrival, officers tried to find the man, later identified as William Tisdol, of Hartford, as he left the casino and headed towards Main and Union streets.
As police chased after him, shots were fired and Tisdol was struck, Gulluni said. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he later died.
This incident is being investigated by the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit and the Springfield Police Department’s Detective Bureau.
